What is Woodsure/Ready to Burn Certification?
Air Quality Regulations in England means wood fuel must now be certified as Ready to Burn. The Ready to Burn mark helps consumers to easily identify solid fuels that are legal to burn at home in compliance with the new Air Quality Regulations. Woodsure is a not-for-profit organisation that runs the Ready to Burn certification scheme hence you will hear about both Ready to Burn certification and Woodsure certification but they are essentially the same thing and hence you will see both logos.
To gain Woodsure certification logs are inspected and verified by its independent inspectors as having a moisture content of 20% or less, meaning they burn with less smoke than wetter logs and are better for the environment.
When purchasing from a Woodsure certified producer you can be assured that the producer has been checked and tested, and are selling logs legally and of good quality. Poor quality, or inappropriate fuel affects the efficiency of the boiler or wood burning appliance.
